Intuition

Two boys, Jack and Tom, are walking together through a war ridden town. As they are coming up over
a hill they both see on old seemingly abandoned warehouse. Suddenly, a missile strikes the warehouse. BLAM! Jack watches in awe as fire streaks through the sky and glass flies brilliantly up into the air. "Woohoo! Did you see that! Oh man that was sweet!," Jack cries out with his fists pounding the air. Tom sees not the amazing blaze of red or the brilliance of glass Jack saw. Instead, he sees a man run out the side of the building, engulfed with flames, his clothes burning into his flesh. "Oh man, you are sick! I don't think I can ever talk to you again! You are a horrible person!," Tom screams at Jack while running away.

Though both boys experienced the same event, they witnessed different perspectives of the same event. Jack did not see what Tom saw, and Tom did not see what Jack saw. Neither understood what the other was thinking or experiencing. So who was right and who was wrong? The beauty of perception: neither was right and neither was wrong. Jack went on to develop breathtaking fireworks that entertained thousands, even though they could be dangerous. Tom went on to become a burn doctor who saved lives, yet could never let his children enjoy the beauty of a fireworks show. Both boys lives were changed by the same moment in time, but their perspectives of that moment determined the affect it had on them, thus determining their affect on the world after that point. Neither had a choice as to how it happened, so how can either one be right or wrong in his assessment of the situation? The experience caused positive and negative affects for both of them, but they are both stronger because of it.

Just because you see life from a different angle than someone else, don't assume you are wrong but also do not let anyone tell you that you are wrong either. But also, do not assume you are right, and tell everyone else they are wrong! Accept what you cannot change! Accept that everyone may experience the same event, but that it is possible no two people will experience it in the same way! The true beauty of life: IT IS MULTI-ANGLED AND LAYERED AND IS VIEWED IN (exact world population number) UNIQUE AND INDIVIDUAL WAYS!

Matt, this is an excellent article. The stories of each boys' perception and life choices were perfect examples. I couldn't agree with you more about who was right and who was wrong. We process things so differently. I have few absolutes because of this and give others the benefit of the doubt since I cannot process their thoughts for them.

A fantastic read, thanks! Welcome to SearchWarp, too. Write 'til your heart's content and then, keep writing! *smile*
